Prime Time Series

Prime Time is a regular concert series dedicated to the more experimental / left-field aspects of harmonic space exploration. A Prime Time concert might feature electro-acoustic music, improvisation, graphic scores, collective compositions, performer-composer solos, experimental film, beautiful single chords held for inappropriate lengths of time, lecture performances, or something else completely. A secondary goal of this series is the creation of a high quality audio archive of our most experimental work, and selections from the series will be made available in digital and physical release over the coming years. Prime Time was initiated by group member Sam Dunscombe, who works to coordinate and archive the series, and all curatorial decisions are undertaken a collective group endeavor. “Artistic direction” is thus an emergent property of the collaborative relationships the HSO members have forged together over the past 5 years of work.

Judith Hamann (cello) and Sarah Saviet (violin) present new solo works, with interstitial music by Sam Dunscombe. Weston Olencki leads members of the Harmonic Space Orchestra a group work based on a proto-JI tuning system derived from 19th-century theories of electrical force.

The Prime Time Series begins with a Harmonic Space Orchestra collective composition led by Deborah Walker, a new solo work by Rebecca Lane (quarter-tone bass flute and electronics), and Fredrik Rasten's Murmurations XVI and Stasis I-II for six electric guitars and spatialized amplifiers.
